Acupuncture is a term used today to encompass a wide variety of techniques and theories. My training is strongly based in Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory (TCM) and Five Element theory.
Some of my teachers taught Japanese meridian style, Trigger Point theory, Korean style, Master Tung's style and Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM). APM was created by my mentor's teacher, Mark Seem, and uses a type of myofascial trigger-point release technique that is profoundly effective in treating many pain syndromes and musculoskeletal complaints. I aim to tailor my approach to each individual patient and their specific needs.
Food as medicine can be a great way to start making healthy changes. Along with your treatment, when necessary, I will recommend herbal formulas based on your individual needs. I will support you in building a healthier you. No matter what your health needs are, having a team to support you will keep you on the path to meeting them. We work together to help you reach your goals.
Cupping aids the immune system, eases tension, and moves stagnation. In TCM, cupping helps release the exterior, which is a way of clearing toxins from the body.
Gua Sha breaks up adhesions, releases the exterior and clears stagnant blood and toxins from the tissue and helps the body metabolize them.
Moxa is a form of heat therapy, where highly refined mugwort is burned to promote healing.
Tuina & Shiatsu massage are ancient Asian massage techniques. Both styles help improve the body’s Qi + blood flow. They can be utilized preventatively or therapeutically. Shiatsu is a soft, over-the-clothes approach, while Tuina (pronounced as “Twee-naa”) has a range of techniques to pull from, depending on the case. I often incorporate some form of bodywork in my treatments.
